In the summer of 2019, I overheard a conversation between my cousins Erik and Silas. They were talking about philosophy and discussing whether the colors we see are actually the colors we think we see. The dynamics of the conversation and the individual personalities of the two inspired me. Their worldviews interested me, and I wanted to delve deeper by accompanying them and spending a lot of time with them. The characteristics of Erik and Silas influenced the resulting photographs, allowing for a visual abstraction of puberty, identity, and brotherhood. And of drifting through life. Following the four-element doctrine, all being consists of certain mixtures of earth, water, air, and fire. These philosophical concepts are recurring symbols in the work in modified form. "Zumindest nennen mich die Menschen so" questions and addresses youth, identity, and existence.
